![]() I honestly thought they were going to have too much things to juggle this episode, but they managed them well. I would say that finale actually exceeded my expectations. I don't know, I just wanted Sam to have his own "I could do this all day" type moment, but instead he got: ![]() He was always just passively listening to other people and then deciding to ignore them and do his own thing, it felt like. ![]() And it felt like the moment that he wiped the blood off of the shield should have been the moment where he realized what the shield symbolized to himself. He spent a lot of time worrying about how other people would perceive him as Captain America with the shield. Sam told Bucky that it doesn't matter what Steve or anyone else thought of him, but that lesson also applied to Sam himself. Probably because he rarely spoke his mind. I felt like Bucky was handled well throughout but Sam was underwitten, which is weird because Sam's story was at the centre of the show. And Sam's exposition at the end was super awkward because the show barely explained why the Flag Smashers and the GRC were at odds before that. It's a bit sad because I wanted to love it. There was some really good character development but also some of the worst character turns in the MCU. I know it's too soon, but eventually we need a 'release the pandemic cut' campaign for this show lol. I’d say Wandavision had some more payoff for its investment, but this show had some better bones in the MCU.Īlso, the ending title card saying “Captain America and the Winter Soldier” was cool as hell. Obviously the most common complaint about the Flagsmasher feeling, underwritten, still stands. ![]() It was a much needed save after the speech Sam gave about being Captain America, which, while good in intentions, felt like incredibly direct discussion on the themes of the show. Isaiah Bradley’s storyline had an amazing conclusion in the museum sequence, I felt kinda choked up there. Zemo seemed to just kinda disappear and fizzle out. Also glad to see Julie Louis Dreyfus again, hopefully this means she isn’t just a one off appearance and the “rumors” of her appearance in Black Widow might hold a little more weight Overall a good episode, the new suit looks amazing. I don’t feel like her character has made a lot of sense in this series but, if they have plans, we’ll see where it goes. Sharon being the Power Broker and getting pardoned in the mid-credits scene, is really, eh. But I feel like they should have let us know that within this show, instead of having it be a reveal later on, because “Sharon bad for no reason” is just not an arc that adds up very well if viewing this as its own story Sharon’s actions otherwise not only contradict her characterization they’ve presented thus far in the MCU, but also don’t make sense for as the power broker in this particular show, unless there is something larger going on. I think the only thing that makes sense is that she is a Skrull trying to consolidate power and opportunity, especially considering that Secret Invasion is impending and we’ve already had one show up in Wandavision. Not only that, but it was a pretty anti-climactic reveal for a character that they put such mystery and importance into being this terrifyingly powerful figure, just to have it be revealed to be a character that has already been in the show and helping the heroes, and done in a weird way tonally that it almost felt like an afterthought at that point. But Sharon leading the heroes to her golden goose, the serum maker, just does not seem to fit any logical motivation for the power broker. There are so many things the MCU has done that has had no root in the comics, like with Thor for example, that fans absolutely love. I think people don’t like it not because it “deviates too far from the comics”, but because it doesn’t make sense within the context of the show.
